GSSllp Partner, Paul Vega, recently attended the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) 2021 Members Forum, which was held virtually. As Chair of the CIOB Northampton Hub, Paul was the regional representative for a large part of the local area, including Northamptonshire, Milton Keynes, Coventry and Bedford.
Each year, the CIOB brings together leading construction professionals from its membership across the globe for a Members’ Forum, to consider, discuss and debate the views and opinions of members from across the globe.
Paul attended virtual membership meetings, workshops, and debates where members came together to focus on the ever-changing needs of the industry, and the how the institute can adapt to meet these needs and provide further benefits to its members.
Key themes of this year’s forum focused on the CIOB 2030 Visionary Group, Diversity and Quality in the construction industry. In addition, CIOB initiatives were discussed such as the entry grade value proposition which is developing the journey to chartered membership and introduce a mentoring platform which should help applicants through their process and hopefully encourage prospective members to achieve chartered membership at a younger age. The new CIOB Connect app was also showcased, ahead of it’s upcoming launch, and will help members connect with the institute, one another and undertake CPDs.
The new CIOB President, Mike Foy OBE FCIOB, was then welcomed as the 118th President of the Chartered Institute of Building for the 2021/22 period.
