GSSllp Partner, Paul Vega, recently attended the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) 2022 Members Forum in Sydney, Australia. As Chair of the CIOB Northampton Hub, Paul was the regional representative for a large part of the local area, including Northamptonshire, Milton Keynes, Coventry and Bedford.
Each year, the CIOB brings together leading construction professionals from its membership across the globe for a Members’ Forum, to consider, discuss and debate the views and opinions of members from around the world. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, members’ forums have had to be held virtually over recent years and this is the first face-to-face forum since Edinburgh in 2019.
Whilst in Sydney, Paul attended membership meetings, workshops, and debates where members came together to focus on the ever-changing needs of the industry, and how the institute can adapt to meet these needs and provide further benefits to its members.
Key themes of this year’s forum focused on Quality, EDI, Ethics, Building Safety, and Sustainability in the construction industry. In addition, CIOB initiatives were discussed, such as the new Corporate Plan, enabling the member representatives to engage and be part of the institute’s vision and focus over the next 5 years.
